So, you like my pictures?

Here's the deal: I take my pictures so people can see them. However, I don't want other people taking credit for them. I want to make sure that if you copy one of my pictures and use it somewhere, you don't try to prevent others from copying it from you. I don't want you to charge people for my pictures (hey, some are pretty good!) without them knowing that you aren't the creator. The Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license fits this well.

There are a few images that I might want to handle differently. Just to play it safe, by default, all images that I created are Copyright Christopher Thomas ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. However, if you're interested in one of my images and it's not already available under a free license, please drop me an e-mail (contact info here) and in most cases I'll be happy to make it freely available.

How should you credit me for Creative Commons-licensed images?

Take your pick:

• You can provide a text link back to my website—specifically, to http://ctho.org, to the gallery page that contains the image, or to the image itself. It's your choice. It doesn't have to be clickable.
• You can identify me. If you're printing it, use "Christopher Thomas (CTho)". If it's online, you can use just "CTho" instead, if you prefer. If you're using the image online, don't worry about your visitors printing the image.
• You can edit the image to add a watermark-like note (identifying me or my web site) as shown in this example:
  
  It can be subtle, but it must be readable (from the distance people are likely to see it—8pt text on a billboard doesn't count).
• If you don't like these options, contact me and we'll see if something else makes sense.
